The problem of noise between floors is a problem faced by people in any country in public housing.
However, this is a very serious social problem in Korea,
where the population density is high and
the percentage of people living in houses such as apartments is overwhelmingly high.
In 2020, according to a survey by the National Statistical Office of Korea,
the number of people living in apartments in Korea accounts for 51 percent of the total.
What that means is that 51% of South Koreans are exposed to noise problems between floors.
if you want to sleep quietly,
but if someone upstairs runs or plays music loudly, of course, you will feel bad.
The victim's option here is to ask the person politely, or to report to the police.
However, the Korean legal system does not deal with this clearly.
It will be resolved if the opponent accepts it politely,
but if the noisy person does not listen, the reality is that there is nothing to do. I
n this case, even crime can occur.
In fact, crimes caused by noise between floors are frequently committed in Korea.
People often kill someone because they can't stand noise between floors,
and often assault them.
A fundamental problem. is there any solution?
I'm trying to think of a fundamental problem here.
First of all, the most fundamental problem is the overly high population density of Korea.
If a person does various activities, noise will eventually occur.
Some people work during theday and sleep at night,
but others work at night and sleep during the day.
Few people enjoy parties during the day, and no wonder there are many people who want to have their own time at night.
Basically, there is a limit to consideration. Of course there is a way.
The best way is to build a building that completely blocks the noise.
Then no matter what happens, the noise can be solved.
However, building such a building requires a lot of money and expensive materials.
In a capitalist society,
it is rare to invest expensive money in residential buildings of ordinary citizens.
After all, this is not a realistic way either.
In developed Western societies, this is not often the case. Why?
Essentially because they live in private homes and have a large private space.
After all, human beings are beings whose needs for individual space and activity must be met.
Suppressing it unconditionally for others is morally right, but not everyone can do it.
Therefore,
the population of Korea must be reduced, and the ratio of apartment houses must be reduced.
Koreans should also have their own space and have the right to live in a large space.
Humans are not chickens in henhouses. In other words, humans need their own space.
Korea's low birth rate problem may cause social problems.
However, Korea's excessive population density will have to be resolved someday.
As the population of Korea has decreased a lot,
I hope that one day all Koreans will be free from the noise problem between floors.
Even if Korea's low birthrate is not a matter to be welcomed,
I think population decline is a task that should be done for Koreans.
